We, magical, ARTROOM hold the solo exhibition of Miyuki Akiyama ‘micro
macro monochrome color’ from August 8to September 7, 2008.
Miyuki Akiyama, who was born in Okayama, 1980, is only 28 years old, but,
in spite of her age, starting from “WORM HOLE episode2”at magical, ARTROOM
in Roppongi in 2006, which was followed by the exhibition at Tokyo Wonder
Site and hiromiyoshii, and the opening exhibition at the alternative space
“Play Room” in Mito, she has kept exhibiting her works constantly. Her
overwhelming power of expression and the colors of her works attracted
viewers at “LISTE 07” in Basel, Switzerland and “101 TOKYO” in this April.
You would find many forests and animals in her works, which seem to be
painted as symbols of the sense of distance between herself and the object.
She paints the mixed sense of micro and macro that you would feel when
you find yourself get lost, as if you were in the middle of forest, which
seems to be far away from you.
Mobility and physicality are important components of her works. Ryo Sawayama
once defined her works, that she tries to be conscious of the fact that
she is standing on the earth, while she paints them, ‘the site to cause
the event’ and the artist Akiyama as ‘experimenter’. She handles the spaces
between herself and the world, and tries to find the clue, though faces
the surface of the canvas.
We exhibit the works of Yosuke Uchimi at our small space at the same time
as Akiyama’s exhibition.
He won the second prize at “ART AWARD TOKYO 2007”, and had a good reputation
at “TOKYO
EYE” at Daimaru Tokyo. We look forward how his works become from now on.

この度magical, ARTROOMでは、8月8日(金)より9月7日(日)まで、秋山幸 個展｢ミクロマクロモノクロームカラー｣を開催する運びとなりました。
秋山幸は1980年岡山県生まれ、弱冠28歳ではありますが、2006年六本木magical, ARTROOMでの２回目の展示『WORM HOLE
episode2』以来、東京ワンダーサイト、hiromiyoshiiでのグループ展、水戸のオルタナティブスペース『遊戯室』のオープニング展など定期的に発表を続けてきました。またスイスバーゼルでの『LISTE07』や、4月の『101
TOKYO』でもその圧倒的な表現力と色彩で注目を集めました。
彼女の作品には、森や動物が多く出現しますが、それらは自分と対象との距離感の象徴として描かれているようです。遠くにあるような森のただ中に自分がいる、動物と対面している自分はどこにいるのかわからなくなったりわかったりといった、ミクロとマクロがないまぜになった感覚そのものを、描いているといえましょう。
秋山の作品においてはまた、運動性、身体性が重要です。大地に足がたっていることを意識しながら画面に向かうという秋山の平面を、沢山遼は「出来事を生起させる実験のための現場」と捉え、制作者秋山を「実験家」と表現しましたが、彼女は平面に向かいながらも、自分と世界との空間を操り、何かとっかかりを発見するような作業を絶え間なく行なっているようです。
magical, ARTROOMでは同時に小スペースにて内海陽介による展示を開催します。内海は、昨年『ART AWARD TOKYO』にて準グランプリを受賞、その後東京駅大丸にて開催された『TOKYO
EYE』でも評判をよび、今後の展開が期待されています。
